Since 1996, The American Women’s Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) has been organizing and leading Gifts for Kids, a volunteer-run, community-driven charitable initiative to bring holiday presents to children living in Luxembourg foyers. Every year, we try to reach more children. In 2019, 992 children received presents through Gifts for Kids, the most beneficiaries ever.

The AWCL works with companies, schools and organizations throughout Luxembourg to set up Christmas trees in prominent locations upon which paper ornaments, handcrafted by the volunteers at AWCL, are hung.  Each ornament reflects the gift wish of a child who has chosen a favorite present from a holiday catalog through Amazon. This year, we will also be providing digital trees. Those who would like to fulfill a gift wish choose an ornament and make a donation - the AWCL takes care of buying the actual gifts, and the donor simply provides the funds for the purchase. The AWCL arranges all the logistics of ordering and then organizing the gifts at our Clubhouse, including a celebratory pickup day where representatives from foyers come to collect the gifts. Sponsors are also invited to the pickup day event, where they have a chance to witness the impact of their generosity.
