The American Women's Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) has always been strongly committed to protecting the privacy of our members and securing the personal data that we maintain on our members. As a highly valued member of the AWCL, and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we want to assure you that your personal information is not shared for external use outside our organization. It is also not published in a hard copy directory for distribution within the Club.
The AWCL securely stores your data with its membership software manager, Wild Apricot.

Cross-Border Transfers of Personal Data
Your personal data may be transferred to and stored on servers at Wild Apricot’s hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the United States. The European Commission has recognized Canada (commercial organizations) as providing an adequate level of data protection. The data protection and privacy laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as the laws in your country. For example, personal data transferred to the United States may be subject to lawful access requests by federal and state authorities in the United States. AWS participates in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield principles and the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield principles regarding the collection, use, sharing and retention of personal data from the European Economic Area and Switzerland, as described in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield certifications and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield certifications of AWS. Information that you provided upon joining, and may have updated since that time, is maintained on a database that is password protected and accessible by the Director of Membership. That password is not shared. Information is maintained on the database for the full duration of an individual's membership, and it is not used to make automated decisions. Personal data provided may include name, address, telephone number and email and is used for internal Club communication, primarily to send out our monthly newsletter and for emails providing updates on Club activities.
Our Facebook groups are closed and only current members are granted access. Access requests from individuals external to the AWCL are never granted. Facebook has its own privacy policy and use of our Facebook groups are subject to that policy. Photos taken on the behalf of the AWCL, including those from the AWCL Facebook groups, can be used for the AWCL website, brochures and publications for marketing purposes for the AWCL only. Photos from the closed Facebook groups cannot be downloaded or shared for personal use.
You always have the following rights:
1) The right to know how your personal data is being used
2) The right to request a copy of your personal data
3) The right to update your personal data
4) The right to request your personal data be erased under certain conditions
5) The right to restrict the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances
6) The right to request the AWCL to transfer the data we have collected to you directly under certain circumstances.
